Twitter's growth dynamics

Last year, i worked on a presentation about celebrities in social media and on one slide, i showed the YoY growth rates (with a calculating error, but the numbers in the image below are correct and the big picture still stands) of nine randomly selected celebrities on Twitter from 2009 to 2010. I thought it was fun to check up on these accounts one year later. What can I say? While the lowest of these rates in 2009-2010 was 1.308% (Stephen Fry) and the highest was 21.899% (Demi Moore) ...
... from 2010 to 2011 the highest growth rate among those nine celebrity accounts was down to 68% (oddly enough, Stephen Fry) and the lowest 5% (Al Gore). On the other hand, Conan O'Brien built over 2.6mn followers in about a year, while Charlie Sheen needed less than three weeks to do so.
So there is still a huge potential on Twitter, but unlike (at least at the moment) Facebook, where there seems to be no end to growth (especially for very popular accounts), it looks as if on Twitter many celebrities might reach the end of their potential pretty soon. Just saying. Click for full size:
